Bio-encapsulating Truly Sustainable Active Ingredients
Replacing petroleum and synthetic coatings for active ingredients in agriculture, landscaping, and animal nutrition with bio-based solutions.
Boost performance and protection with BioCloak.
Farmers and consumers can neither afford to reject or embrace current encapsulation products.
It’s yet another dilemma where industry depends on petroleum-based solutions while a life-friendly planet relies on their radical reduction.
Encapsulation methods and coatings both protect and enhance active ingredients in agriculture, landscaping applications, and animal nutrition through the controlled release of active ingredients such as pesticides, fertilizers, and nutrients.
The slowed and targeted dispensation of these ingredients reduces the loss of nutrients from slow absorption, and allows more time for their uptake — making treatments more effective.
Unfortunately, what is good for performance and profit can be devastating for the environment, animal and human health.
Current encapsulation coatings are created with non-biodegradable, petroleum-based polymers, greatly contributing to microplastic pollution.
Over 197 million tons of controlled-release fertilizers were produced in 2021. Assuming a 1% coating weight, this equates to 1.98 million tons of synthetic polymers entering farm fields and irrigation systems.
Meanwhile, policies banning non-biodegradable polymer coatings are increasing across the globe.
BioCloak provides the critical solution: replacing plastic with bio-based encapsulation methods.
BioCloak leverages multiple cutting-edge bioencapsulation technology solutions to create a wide range of low-cost, high-performing field and plant nutrition, and animal nutrition applications, such as:
